Riél, Captain of the Nightwings - Characterdesign Challenge

My entry for the CDChallenge 85#, the theme was Bird Warrior!
My concept was simple: design a knight with a big sword and wing coat, and after a few iterations I ended up with the version you see in the final render. I wanted him to look regal and majestic with royal colors such as purple and gold accents; finding this colorscheme was harder than I thought because the colors had to be balanced so it wouldn´t look silly and cartoony. Also I kept the overall rendering style very rough and line based, something I usually don´t like but it was a good practice for line quality.
